Dear Yousef,
I hope this mail finds you well. It's hard to find words to write.. But I just wanted to ask if you and your family are safe. I know you because I watch Arte's Gaza-Sderot project on the web. Our solidarity is with you - that's all I can send to you from here, Istanbul.
Best,

Gazze - okuma notları

"İnsanlıktan çıkıp milliyetten geçerek canavarlığa varan bir yol vardır, diye yazmıştı Franz Grillparzer 19. yüzyılda. Altı Gün Savaşı'ndan beri bizim katettiğimiz yol budur."
--Yeshayahu Leibowitz (İsrailli felsefeci ve bilimadamı; Eyal Sivan'ın "Izkor: Slaves of Memory" adlı belgeselindeki röportajından)
Gilad Atzmon (İsrail ordusunda görev de yapmış, şu an Londra'da yaşayan muhalif, Avrupa'nın en ünlü caz saksofoncularından biri):
Israel has passed the ‘point of no return’. Its doomed fate is deeply engraved in each bomb it drops on Palestinian civilians. There is nothing Israel can do to save itself. There is no exit strategy. It can’t negotiate its way out because neither the Israelis nor their leadership understand the elementary parameters involved in the conflict.

Prof. Dr. Said Abdelwahed (Gazze'deki Al-Azhar Üniversitesi'nde İngilizce öğretmeni):
Today, three paramedics dies while trying to save lives. The dy before yesterday one medical doctor and a paramedic were killed too. Tonight, all mobile phone net have been totally paralyzed now. Land telephone lines are bad, but it is working! Before dawn, clouds of black smoke were everywhere in Gaza skies! Oooooops. right now, land shakes under us! Booooooom!

Uri Avnery (İsrailli yazar, muhalif ve barış eylemcisi):
The official name of the war is “Cast Lead”, two words from a children’s song about a Hanukkah toy.
It would be more accurate to call it “the the Election War”.
In the past, too, military action has been taken during election campaigns. Menachem Begin bombed the Iraqi nuclear reactor during the 1981 campaign. When Shimon Peres claimed that this was an election gimmick, Begin cried out at his next rally: “Jews, do you believe that I would send our brave boys to their death or, worse, to be taken prisoner by human animals, in order to win an election?” Begin won.

Palestine Think Tank (We are people from different backgrounds who live in different countries. We speak different languages and believe in different religions, or even believe in no religion at all. These differences are not a problem to any of us):
My visit back home to the Galilee coincided with the genocidal Israeli attack on Gaza. The state, through its media and with the help of its academia, broadcasted one unanimous voice — even louder than the one heard during the criminal attack against Lebanon in the summer of 2006. --Ilan Pappe

Umkahlil (This blog advocates for the implementation of the Palestinians' inalienable right to return home and calls upon each and every blogger concerned about human rights, justice, and a durable peace in the Middle East to get behind the effort to advocate for its implementation):
'This is one Child. One Story'
Her name is Christine, a tenth grade student. Her father is a doctor and she lived near the YMCA in Al-Remal area. She died of fear. Since the war started she felt apprehensive of the danger. She suffered from neurotic disorder and a hysteric situation just as many children are suffering. On Friday, during the shooting of F-16 missiles, she fell on the ground due to the dreadful sound. Her father tried to help, but he couldn't. --Sam Bahour, Ramallah

Gazze... hepimiz...

Elbet, tarihe izi kalacak...
Sağdaki yazının Türkçe meali: "Hepimiz Gazze'yiz".
